Postdoctoral Scholar
We are seeking highly motivated scientists with deep interest in the basic mechanisms of intelligence broadly construed. Prior experience with NHPs, electrophysiology (any species), or neural/cognitive/behavioral computational modeling is a plus, but not required--first and foremost you should be excited about boundary-pushing research. You can expect to receive close one-on-one mentorship from Lucas on both research and career. Email Lucas with a CV and cover letter, summarizing your prior work and future interests. Please try to be specific about how your interests relate to those of the lab. Include contact information for 2-3 references.
Ph.D. Student
We are excited to take on graduate students. If you are interested, you have to first be part of an appropriate NYU Ph.D. program. The two main options are: (1) Apply to the NYU Neural Science Doctoral Program and mention Lucas as someone you’d like to work with; (2) Apply directly to Lucas through the NYU Tandon Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. program. In both cases, you are welcome to reach out to Lucas beforehand to discuss your interest.
Animal Technician/Lab Manager/Research Associate
We are seeking a candidate for a long-term position contributing to the core operations of the lab. These operations include animal care/management/training, surgical procedures, regulatory compliance, managing lab finances, and other aspects of lab operations. In addition to these core operations, you will be encouraged to contribute across other diverse lab functions, including hardware/software development, data analysis, grant writing, and other research activities. Think of this as an opportunity to help build a new lab and grow alongside it in a position of great impact. You should have prior experience with NHPs, either in a research lab or in a veterinary setting. You should be diligent, responsible, and pay great attention to detail. Research Assistant
We are seeking highly motivated recent college graduates looking to gain deep research experience in a full-time posiiton before applying for graduate school or medical school. You should be ready to commit enough time to contribute to completion of an impactful research project with the goal of authorship on peer-reviewed papers (two years). You will work either independently or alongside a postdoc or graduate student. You should be excited about the possibility of working hands-on with NHPs. You can expect close one-on-one mentorship from Lucas on both research and career. Email Lucas with a CV and short description (3-6 sentences) of research experience and future interests. Undergraduate Research Assistant
We are always excited to hear from undergraduates. This should be seen as an opportunity to contribute to impactful, peer-reviewed papers--we therefore expect you to commit enough time to do sustained, impactful work (at least 10 hours a week). You can expect to receive mentorship from Lucas on both your research and career.
